| SOCSC 151: Society and Technology |

Role of technology as a prime factor in changing social and political institutions. Addresses technology as the systematic application of organized knowledge and
material tools to the extension of human faculties. The course is designed to increase the student's awareness of technological advances; to develop appreciation of
technology's benefits and costs; and to stimulate critical thinking about the inter-relationship between politics, social dynamics, our economy and the advancement of
technology. Assignments involve webbing or mapping out a specific technological invention; a biography of an inventor; the itemization of which technological devices
are used in a typical home; and designing a time line of technological advances of a specific era. E-mail available.
