This
course is designed to provide students with a
comprehensive understanding of women’s experiences in
the criminal justice system. The course material covers
the historical background of women as victims, criminals
and working professionals in the criminal justice
system. Students will utilize governmental crime
statistics and academic research materials to analyze
current rates of crimes committed against women and by
women and the current percentage of women working in the
fields of criminal justice. A conflict perspective
using different feminists theoretical perspectives will
be employed to analyze these materials.
