COURSE REQUIREMENTS
  • For most students, those with Internet access, there are five assignments.  Two of the assignments are in the form of objective exams that document students learning of key terms that are in Text One.  Each exam is worth 100 points.  A third assignment involves choosing one of Text One end-of-the-chapter Exercises that the instructor approves (listed in Handout One) and completing it.  This assignment is worth 50 points.  The fourth assignment is to complete one of Text One end-of-the-chapter Web Exercises that the instructor has approved (listed in Handout Two).  This assignment is also worth 50 points.  The fifth and final assignment is to complete one of Text Two’s three part “Exercise for Article” assignments.  This fifth assignment is worth 50 points for a total of 350 points in all.

  • For students who do not have access to the Internet they are assigned to complete the two Text One exams (for possible 100 points each); and the Text Two “Exercise for Article” assignment (for another possible 50 points).  As an alternative to doing the two assignments that Internet access students do, students who do not have access to the Internet may do the following remaining assignment.  Use Text One’s end-of-the-chapter “Developing a Research Proposal” section and Handout Four as guides to writing a research paper.  The paper is to be ten to fifteen single-spaced, error free pages.  The research paper is to be based on fabricated/imagined data from research that is reported as if it were actually conducted.  The reason for you not actually going out and collected data in a survey or in an experiment is to avoid security risks of engaging with random, anonymous subjects in the community.  The paper is to report the results of using a sample of people who were given a questionnaire, or an experimental (or a control) condition, using a measurement device, while using a given data collection method.  Then the results and findings of fabricated data would be reported and conclusions drawn.  This paper would be worth 100 points (since it is in lieu of the two fifty point assignments).  These four assignments are worth 350 points possible for the students who do not have access to the Internet. Be clear that it is not necessary to send in the end-of-the-chapter “Developing a Research Proposal” answers to the instructor.  The assignment is to send in the Research Paper only.
