PSYCH 342 – Educational Psychology

DETAILS Semester-hour credits: 3 Tuition: $448.50 Methods: DESCRIPTION This course is designed to introduce different learning and thinking styles through social cognitive learning theory and information processing. Understanding the importance of motivation, intelligence, problem-solving, assessments, and positive learning environments will be introduced. Another important goal is to capture your interest in how you acquire knowledge, so that the course becomes an enjoyable and profitable experience. REQUIRED MATERIALS & TEXTBOOKS Santrock, John W., 2005. Educational Psychology. 2nd Edition. McGraw-Hill. ISBN: 0-07-312648-9. COURSE REQUIREMENTS There will be two proctored 50-point objective exams: one midterm and one final exam. The final examination is not cumulative and will focus on the material covered in the second half of the course. Exam #1 will cover Chapters 7,2,3,8, & 13. Exam #2 will cover Chapters 4,9,6,14,10, & 16. The exams are multiple-choice and matching. In addition, you will be required to submit four written assignments. These assignments are intended for you to critically think about education and learning today as it applies in your own life. These assignments are to be typed on 8.5x11 paper size with a #10 font. An approximate total of typed pages will be around three pages, not exceeding five pages.
