This course is in an introduction to the roles, and methods of research in nursing. It facilitates development of nurses as
consumers of research for research based practice. The course includes 7 units of study, three exams and a research paper. Sofprim
computer software is required to support content presentation and practice in application. E-mail available. Prerequisites: evidence
of knowledge of basic statistics, nursing care, and nursing theories demonstrated through transcript documentation at the time of
registration. Non nursing students accepted with permission of instructor. (Offered through NLNAC accredited BSN program.) Course
uses Blackboard Software. Students need Internet connection of at least 56K and Netscape 4.0+ or Internet Explorer 5.0+.

An elective theory course that focuses on nursing care of older adults. The focus is on positive adaptation through positive life
style processes. Biopsychosocial changes, legal and ethical problems are addressed. The course includes a care management study or
individualized experience that includes three interviews. E-mail available. Prerequisite: completion of all junior level nursing courses.
