DETAILS Semester-hour credits: 3 Tuition: $448.50 Methods: DESCRIPTION The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with terminology, concepts, issues, techniques, and methodologies associated with the discipline of production/operations management. Particular emphasis will be placed on operations strategy and on the design and execution of operations planning and control systems. Attention will be given to developing analytical skills relevant to the management of such systems. REQUIRED MATERIALS & TEXTBOOKS Operations Management, 8th edition., Jay Heizer and Barry Render, Prentice-Hall, 2006. ISBN #0131554441. COURSE REQUIREMENTS APPLICATION EXERCISES (AE’s): AE’s are graded assignments that provide an application of skill or techniques learned from studying the material. AE’s for particular chapters can be bundled and sent in anytime before or with the exam for those chapters. HOMEWORK PROBLEMS: The ability to solve the types of problems found in this course is a skill which is best learned by DOING. You should attempt all the problems assigned. If you need help, call or e-mail the instructor. If a solution is not correct, a suggestion will be made to correct the mistake. Solutions to even numbered problems are included in the text beginning on page A-10. Homework will not be graded nor will it count toward your grade.
