ENG 101: Composition 101
3 semester-hour credits - Tuition $448.50
Beginning course in expository writing, emphasizing skills of written expression, organization, and presentation. Prerequisite: ENG 099 or a satisfactory score on ACT/SAT from within the last 5 years, or a passing score on the CSU-Pueblo AccuPlacer exam. ENG 102: Composition 102
3 semester-hour credits - Tuition $448.50
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a variety of skills and strategies used by college writers to produce convincing argument papers based on reading and research. The course places heavy emphasis on the planning, writing, and revising of student essays and research as well as the development of critical reading skills.  Prerequisite:  ENG 101

ENG 130: Introduction to Literature
3 semester-hour credits - Tuition $448.50
Introduction to the three major literary genres: fiction, poetry, and drama. The main emphasis is on close reading and textual analysis. E-mail available.

ENG 231: Literature of England I
3 semester-hour credits - Tuition $448.50
Students will become familiar with major developments in English literary history from the Anglo-Saxon period through the eighteenth century; with relevant factors in the social, political, cultural, and intellectual history of the eras in question; and with representative authors, genres, and texts. To succeed in the course, students will need to demonstrate knowledge of these topics and the ability to relate them to one another. Finally, students will learn techniques for reading and interpreting these texts and develop their skill in writing about literature in papers and essay exams.

ENG 355: Women Writers of Detective Fiction
3 semester-hour credits - Tuition $417
Requires students to read 15 novels from Christie to contemporary authors, listen to one collection of short stories, and complete various written assignments. E-mail available.

ENG 424: Development of the Novel Using Film
3 semester-hour credits - Tuition $417
Students will read Margaret Doody's book, The True Story of the Novel Students then select two novel/film combination from each of the three periods and perform comparison/contrast of the novel and the film. E-mail available.
