Study of aliphatic and aromatic compounds including
current theories, nomenclature, properties, synthesis,
reactions, mechanisms and spectroscopy. Emphasis will be
on comprehension, understanding and applications of
molecular behavior and relevance of the subject to
everyday life applications. This course is for students
requiring a survey of organic chemistry in one semester.
It is not intended for Chemistry majors or
pre-professional students requiring an in-depth
introduction to the subject. Thirteen video tapes or
broadcasts of one hour each with correlated assigned
readings from the course text and study guide.
